  1. My dramatic adventure
On one occasion my best friend and her parents invited me to a trip. That trip was planned by them a few days before by Paula’s father, who planned to go to the river by walking, he said that he knew a shortcut to get to the river where the trip was planned. Well, it was okay, but he didn’t remember the shortcut perfectly!
The day of the trip arrived. Paula and I were super excited since it would be a great adventure. We planned to take a lot of photos, swim, eat marshmallows with chocolate, see stars and camp; but we never planned to get lost in the woods.
The first part of the trail was beautiful with beautiful scenery, birds, squirrels, flowers, etc. Until we arrived in the woods and there were 2 roads but they did not have a sign that said where that road led; so, we took the road that had more footsteps and footprints. We kept walking until we reached a point where there was no more road.
Paula’s father turned his head and said “I don't know where we are”, “I forgot the road a while ago”. Paula’s mother saw red and began to scold Paula's father. On the other hand, I was almost crying, thinking that I would never go back to my house (I was very dramatic haha).
in the midst of so much chaos and destruction haha; a family passed by and we asked them where they were going. They said to the river; without thinking we went with them and arrived at our beautiful destination just in time for the arrival of the birds to their nests.

  2. I'll start talking about my best trip, I think I was ten years old when it happened. My uncle had an state about thirty minutes from Necocli so in December we always traveled to that place.

It was too nice place, we spent our days playing in the pool, riding horses, watching them work with cows.. but just what made that trip special was that for New Year, my uncles had the idea of traveling to Cartagena by car.

It could be said that the journey was not very far so without much thought we took our things and started the journey. The landscape were bautiful; we always laughed and shared many anecdotes. I really loved that trip.

My worst trip was un 2021 when my little bother (he's 14 yo but for me he is still my baby) had to travel to Pereira for the national football tournament, they had to play a team called Socrates. We left Villavicencio at 8pm so the trip was really short because most of the time we were asleep.

The problem begins when we arrived in Pereira, I felt too bad as if I had no energy. Unfortunately they decide they wanted to tour the city while it was time to enter the hotel. Pereira is a very beautiful city, people are friendlu and the weather is perfect but I could not enjoy the trip because I was sick.

On the other hand, unfurtunately we lost the match against that team so we had to come with the sadness of not going to the next round.

  3. Ana María Fuentes Pineda

When I was at school in 2018, I was part of the Marching Band, and we had the opportunity to go to a competition in Brazil, this experience was incredible, not only because I was going to get to know another country, also because it was an opportunity for which the whole band had worked very hard.

In the airport, the thing was very crazy because we were a group of more or less 60 people, most of us were girls, some parents and 4 teachers. Imagine having to control girls from 11 to 18 years old, all full of curiosity to know the airport, it was definitely a chaotic and funny scene. Nevertheless, everything was under control and there were no problems getting on the plane.

But the best part of the experience was during the stay in Brazil because I was with my best friend fulfilling one of our dreams. The band was like a big family where we took care of each other because most of us were without our parents. There was tears, laughter, anger, fear, nerves and some problems, but in the end we solved it as a family.

The most emotional part of the whole trip was when we got the second place in the competition. We all cried, even the teachers, because it was the result of our rehearsals all day long, of rainy and sunny days, bitterness and tiredness. We were just a school marching band versus other private adult bands.

  4. The Mysterious Island

Me and my family are going camping to Puerto Caldas, a small town near my hometown. We drive there for an hour until we get into the woods. There are plenty of trees so we have to leave the cars there. It's a beautiful and peaceful place, it's so quiet and charming in here. I feel like I want to build a cabin and stay here forever. But it's time to walk until we get near the river.

We have to cross the river to get to that small island in front of us because the river surrounds it. It’s a deep river, that kinda scares me. Now, it’s time to put the tents and I'm actually really good at it. It's already dark and we’re sitting around the campfire we made telling horror stories. That's kind of a tradition on our vacations. We're all having a good time, but I think something strange happens...

The sky lights up quickly, it's as strange as amazing. The sky gets more and more color, it's actually green now. I don't get what happens, but I can't stop looking at it. I see an object pass quickly and ask my dad what it is, he looks at it and says it’s a bengal light. Apparently there’s someone else on the island, I thought we were alone. I’m a little worried, but my dad says it’s okay. It's almost midnight, everything's normal and I don't see anything or anybody strange. It's a quiet and starry night. I feel tired so I better go to sleep.

It's 10 in the morning, that means it's time to pack and go home. I still think about what happened last night, but nobody seems worried about it but me. I better look on the good side of this, I met a beautiful place. Now, home awaits.

  5. My Tragicomedy.

This story begins about 7 years ago, when my dad and his wife decided to schedule a trip to San Gil, Santander.
My father took us to San Gil to do different activities, including paragliding and canoeing. First we went paragliding, my dad was raised a lot and his wife was the same; when it was my turn the wind was not so strong, so they couldn't lift me much (from then on I must have thought that not everything would go very well with me), but I still enjoyed the experience a lot, the fact of seeing the city from a certain height and reaching to feel the emptiness in the abdomen was quite gratifying for me.
After paragliding we went canoeing, this activity was very surprising. Everything was going very well, we are enjoying the activity a lot, at one point when we passed the rapids the daughter of my father's wife fell from the boat and obviously I laughed a lot, they say that karma is effective and sometimes immediate, well much more ahead the guide told us that we could get off and swim a little before reaching the rapids again; I was happy and enjoying the activity until the guide told us to go through a small river bank, where there was a small whirlpool which I had not noticed, the evil guide wanted us all to go that way, I very obediently went towards the whirlpool, clearly the whirlpool sucked me like 3 or 4 times, in the middle of this event I could only shout "dad" and extend my hand while I cried and my father and the others laughed until i got out of the whirlpool.
This story is one of many that are told in the house. At that moment I felt very scared, as my younger brother said "I felt like I was drowning 4 times" haha, but now I tell the story with a lot of humor and I think how ridiculous it seemed to me to scream and cry, instead of trying to swim to get out. In conclusion, that panic does not block them and they can get out of the whirlpools that life brings.

  6. The Trip That Never Happened

In 2017, one of my aunts came up with the idea of taking a family trip. Convincing my grandparents and the rest of the family was complicated because they’re not people who enjoy out a lot. However my aunt managed to convince everyone to make the trip the idea of this trip is to go out of the country and go to the beach.
My aunt knew a travel agency that in her opinion was reliable and with them we would buy a travel package that would include accommodation, food, air tickets and tourist tours. Everything seemed to be going well. In fact we would get a discount for the number of people who were going. we were like 15 people. When I say that all my family I mean ALL.
Finally we bought the travel packages. We were very excited about the trip. It was three months from the date we bought the package. We started preparing all the necessary documents and items for travel. As the trip was going to be out of the country, we were going to Margarita islands in Venezuela. We had to get a passport, do reinforcements on certain vaccines like yellow fever. We buy bathing dresses, beach clothes, travel bags. Rather, we did not buy, we had everything ready for the trip... but a week before the trip we learned that a cousin would have to take the ICFES exam and that the date crossed with the trip. So we decided to postpone the trip for like two more weeks.
When we postponed our trip; the agency offered us another plan that would be "better" to another destination, we would now go to Cuba. That if we had to pay a little more but even if we thought it was a good price. Everything was fine until a couple of days before the trip we canceled the trip and reported by the news that the travel agency was bankrupt and they were going to liquidate it. In the news he said that a group of people who had bought travel packages were stranded in a country other than their country of residence. Because the agency could not afford the return tickets to the country and the days of lodging would be over.

However we had the hope that they would return the money but that never happened and that we tried with legal resources and with lawyer but it was not possible to recover the money and we had a great loss of money. We were all very disappointed, bored and sad with this situation. But we had to accept it. And this is my story of why I couldn’t know the sea or get out of the country.

  7. Have you ever slept with a wild animal?

Well, I did and it was a weird and new experience. I was 15 years old when this happened, let me tell you about this story.
On August 25 of 2017, I was on my Happy "quinceañera" so my mom decided to give me a ticket to San Andrés as a gift, but I couldn't travel alone so I traveled with my family.
When we arrived at San Andrés I was so in love with the colors of the sea, the nature, the culture and the food.

Along all the travel, I had to share my bedroom with my sister, it was a beautiful bedroom (if one day you travel to this island, I recommend you to host at this hotel, it is called Sol Caribe Campo) everything was right, but that night we were so tired that we fall asleep immediately, the following day I wake up at 6:00 am, (to Early for me)I woke up early becuase I felt a little creature moving around me, it felt like little ticking around my arm, I opened my eyes, and lifted up the blanket, I screamed because there was a lizard on my bed, more precisely on my arm. It was the first time that I saw a lizard, for me that wasn't usual, and I was so scared. Then talking with my family they told me that it was normal in places with warm weather. Even though it was a different experience I really enjoyed visiting that island, everything is so beautiful, the people are so kind, the beach is awesome, and you can do a lot of activities, like scuba diving, hikes, you can learn about corals and aquariums and also sleep with a Sylvester animal, of course.

  8. Like in paradise

Ten years ago, my family and I went to El Parque Jaime Duque in Bogotá one weekend. The thing I didn't expect was that it could change my life. The day it all happened had nice weather and my family and I were enjoying the different attractions at the park. We went up to the Ferris wheel which had a beautiful view of the lake, we went to the pirate ship, and we had a great time at the zoo watching the tigers.

After that, we were on our way to have lunch. I was walking behind my family when suddenly I saw two super tall people with a crazy and beautiful style. I was shocked at that moment because they were gorgeous. I stopped and watched them for a while. They started to speak in French and it was something new for me. I felt like I was in paradise even though I didn't understand anything, so I started to cry with joy.

I was so unexpectedly happy that I totally forgot about my family and they forgot about me. I got lost in the park, but I was very happy, so I didn’t care. Instead, acting like a stalker, I began to observe the foreigners in the place and was fascinated by the different languages they spoke. I walked around and I went back to the same place until my family remembered they had a child and went for me.

It was a cool day, full of amazing emotions and different experiences. After lunch, we finished exploring the park in the museums. Everything was very nice and I will always remember that day as my first approach to other cultures. From that moment I started to be interested in languages and different cultures which is the origin of why today I am a student of languages.

  10. My great adventures

To begin, I am going to talk a little about the best experience and trip I have ever had, which was about a year ago. Usually my family and I used to go out in July to Villa de Leyva, so you can already imagine that this story happened in that place. It was a very entertaining trip where I shared with my family and I felt extremely good because I did not share with them so often and I had not seen them for a long time.

As is known, Villa de Leyva is one of the most touristic places; where you can find awesome things and lots of fun. We decided to visit some of its museums and lakes; which fascinated me along with their history. Especially, the blue wells gave me incredible tranquility and peace because it is a place with a wonderful view. Also, my cousins and I went to ride an all-terrain vehicle or ATV and take a tour of the Chocolate Museum, it was amazing because I wanted to do that for a long time.

When we had finished our activities we decided to travel to Bogotá because there was an aunt that we had not seen for a long time because she was in another country. Since we never take a car to Bogotá, we decided go to the home first and then take a bus; which unfortunately was damaged arriving at Villapinzón. So we had to go down off the bus together with all the things we were carrying because we were going to stay a few days and try to take other bus. But because it was a holiday, the buses were busy and did not stop pick up more passengers whereby we spent approximately 2h there, until a bus with seats available passed by and picked us up.

  13. The most exhausting trip!
It is Saturday at 9:00 pm 2017 and the only thing I can think about it is to be sleeping. That delicious feeling of being on my bed. Why? Because the trip was long and exhausting.
To put you in context, on Friday, we were celebrating that my cousin got her bachelor's degree. At first, it was a regular day. I wake up at 6:00 am. I got ready for school and the academic schedule finished at 1 pm. I came back to my house and I ate lunch. In the afternoon, I made all my homework and, at 5:00 pm, I needed to be ready for my cousin's graduation ceremony. We went to all the activities proposed by the school and, at 9:00 pm we were at my cousin's home because my aunt decided to buy a cake and to give her a bunch of flowers.
Everything was okay so what was the matter here? That we need to travel at 11 pm to Medellin by car with my dad and my dance cover group friends. It means that it is a 9-hour trip and we were 5-people in it. For that reason, sleeping there was not a good idea. We spent 9 hours traveling and after some stops at 11 am we were in Medellin, a beautiful city where the weather is cold but hot at the same time. We arrived at the designated hostel, and we made the check-in at 12:00 pm. At 2 pm we were going on a tour to the "Pueblito Paisa" so the time was perfect for taking a shower and getting ready, taking into account that now, we were not just 5-people, we were more than 20! We went to that beautiful place on foot, so we spent around 1 hour getting there. I enjoyed it a lot because we got to know new people and it was really nice because all of us were laughing or singing even if we didn't know each other.
We went to the hostel at 9 pm after eating something. We went to our room. I had not slept anything, and I was completely tired! My soul left my body when I saw the bed, and in less than 10 minutes I was sleeping like a baby.

  14. My first Trip (by Laura Ruiz)

My best travel experience was on July 29, 2022 when my boyfriend invited me to Armenia Quindío, that same day in the afternoon I packed my clothes, toiletries and a snack as we left for the bus terminal at 8 pm and began our 12-hour trip, that time we traveled in a double-decker bus and I remember that my ears hurt a lot because of the noise.

When we arrived at the bus terminal in Armenia we did not know where to stay or where to eat or take transportation, I remember that the first hotel we found in front of the terminal in that one we stayed without knowing it was a dangerous neighborhood because it smelled of marihuana and when we arrived from the "parque del cafe" to sleep some people who were on the street tried to rob us but we quickly ran to the hotel and the next day we left early for Salento, then we visited the "Valle del Cocora", in the afternoon we returned to Armenia to attend a convention and when we left we did not know where to stay to sleep, then a man offered to take us to Pereira and we accepted, when we arrived we did not like it and took transportation to Santa Rosa de Cabal and as we arrived late we looked for a hotel soon, the next day we went to the hot springs and my skin was wrinkled by being all day in the water.

On Sunday night we traveled back to Tunja as I had to get to class at 8 in the morning. I really liked this trip because it was my first trip far away and it was quite an adventure. (Laura Ruiz)

  15. My first trip.

When I was about 11 years old, my parents, my brothers, my grandmother and I traveled to a biopark called "Los ocarros" located in Villavicencio, Meta. I was too young to remember everything, but I remember how happy I was. I decided to tell you this because just a couple of days ago, I was looking at old photos and I remembered this experience.

The trip was a bit exhausting, because it is far from the town where we live. I remember we arrived and the first thing we did was go to a restaurant for lunch. For the first and only time, I ate "Bandeja Paisa", a delicious dish! By the way, I remember ordering a dish called "Mini Bandeja Paisa" because I knew I could not eat a whole one. My brother surprisingly ate a whole one and he is a year older than me, incredible!

After this, we went to the park. We saw many animals and clearly, we took many photos. I remember that my father had bought a camera before traveling to be able to keep memories. I can not remember the number of animal species we saw there, but I remember perfectly that I saw a jaguar and it was one of my dreams. Also, something that I will never forget was the snakes that I saw, these animals make me panic and I remember that I cried. As well as, we saw many birds, crocodiles, and tapirs. Almost forgot, we also saw an otter!

This experience is very special to me because it was a promise that my father made to us when we were younger and I remember that he used to put videos on YouTube of this park and told us that at any moment he was going to take us. It makes me nostalgic to remember the enormous effort that dad made to save money and make this beautiful trip possible.

  16. Going to the beach for the first time ever doesn't sound bad, does it?

This is the story of how I got in one of the best trips in my life and, yet, it felt
    bittersweet at the end.
It was 2017, me and my family were going to Santa Marta, one of the most beautiful places
in Colombia, with lots of beaches, great food and culture enough to explore and stay for a week
or two. The journey was not less than 10 hours in car, from Tunja to Santa Marta, using a high
speed route and taking small stops to rest and take photos.
Once we arrived to the hotel, we started planning our next move: Would it be the beach? Maybe
the Museum where Simon Bolivar's bed is kept?
A beach, more exactly, a private one, Playa Blanca: Far from downtonw and even further from
most tourists who had to follow a tour or a strict agenda.
10 minutes in, we had rented a couple of seats and we had already asked for our lunch; Grilled
fish, chicken and red meat were the options available for eating, and they would arrive hot
and out of the stove at 1PM exactly.
30 minutes in, the police came to kick everyone out the place:
    - "Today's a very stormy day, haven't you checked the weather app?"
    - Oh, ain't there any options to stay...
    - There aren't, now get changed and go back to the city.
It wouldn't have been a problem so big if the guy who had the seats for rent hadn't spoken:
    - I want the full 50K price.
    - But sir, we've only had the seats for 30 minutes, and they were meant to be used all day.
    - I don't care, this is the end of my turn, so I must get full price back.
    - You gotta be kidding us right?
Let's say my family wasn't the only one gettiing annoyed by this dude, everyone at the beach
had used their seats and was also asked for the full day fee.
    - Ain't no way you're asking for the full money - said a policeman.
    - But, agent, we agreed on this price at the beggining of the day.
    - Which was 30 minutes ago, have you got no nerve?
    - But sir.
    - No, let them go, now.
We paid 10k and went back to Santa Marta. We shopped and walked downtown, although I'd have loved
to stay at the beach a little longer, our safety was way more important and I ended up having fun
at the city, so, this is a bittersweet ending for the story.
